The Zoomobile visited WSES today as a PBIS all school celebration! We learned about a Madagascar hissing cockroach, a 34 year old yellow footed tortoise named Shellie, a 17 year old ball python snake named Camo, and a 4 year old leopard gecko named Dottie. Students got to pet Shellie the yellow footed tortoise if they chose to. Natalie and Elizabeth from the Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls shared all about these animals with us. We learned a lot about these animals including where and how they live.

Due to the extreme cold temperatures in the area, Wessington Springs schools will have a 9:45am late start tomorrow, January 21, 2025.

With the new semester starting up, students and teachers say that school is off to a great start. When asked how the switch into the new semester could be smoother, the majority of the teachers said that students having their schedules ready to go is very helpful in the transition from one semester to the next. The majority of students said that no homework would also be very nice going into the next semester, especially with all of the activities they have in the works. Mrs. Jackson in English has especially enjoyed the Freshman Class and their poster analyses of The Christmas Carol (pictured). The staff at WSHS wishes all students a good school year!
